Another Bullseye favorite

This is the work of Catharine Newell.  She does this imagery on glass with glass powder.  There is a video demonstration on YouTube that is worth checking out.

There is also a YouTube video posted on Steve Klein, whose work I posted a couple of days ago.  Check this one out, too, while you’re at it.

very neat! that would make a great collage along a hallway.

I like how you photographed them as well.

random ? — I was in an art gallery in the Pearl a while ago where I’d have loved to take photos – huge pieces of modern art & sculpture – but my sister told me it wasn’t appropriate. Does it just depend on the gallery?

  2. Yes, I think it does depend on the gallery – just ask the gallery staff if it is okay. The worst they can say is “no” and if they say “yes” then you get your snaps. 🙂

  3. I stumbled on this – you have good taste 🙂

Bullseye doesn’t prohibit photos in their – and it is a good thing or I’d be in a jail in Portland somewhere.

Catharine will be teaching in our studio (Helios Kiln Glass Studio) in Austin, Texas in January. Details are here:

She is as wonderful a teacher as she is an artist.
