My town

Yeah, this is my town.  Most of it is down the hill, so you can’t really see it.  Most of what you can see (sort of) in this photo is the new medium security prison that is currently under construction.  One of these days I’m going to get a photo of the concrete jungle, as I like to call it.  The thing is hideous, but that’s a post for another day.

  1. Beautiful landscape! I like how there is green in the middle surround by brownish looking grain in the front and back. What is that really tall blackish structure in the far left?

  2. Andy, thanks! The brownish looking grain in front and back is actually a type of bunch grass grown as ground cover for non irrigated areas of land. The green is freshly cut alfalfa, drying out and waiting to be baled. The really tall structure on the far left is a water tower put in by the prison.

on the bright side, the prison’s concrete jungle could make for some great b&w images!

  4. That’s the plan, Elizabeth! Great minds think alike. 🙂

  5. This is a great photo, it gives some really good insight to where you live and the surrounding area. It’s not what I imaged at all.
I agree with Elizabeth some b/w of the prison would be really interesting. Do they allow you to take photos of that subject? Everyone is so paranoid these days. They might think you are planning to break someone out. 🙂

  6. Liss, thanks! I think I’d be okay in taking photos of the prision before it opens up. They might not like it so much once they do open.
