Schnitzel with noodles

mac and cheese

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things

I don’t know why, but that song (from The Sound of Music) always reminds me of Christmas.  It was the closest thing to a Christmas song that I could find, with lyrics that mention one of my favorite things – macaroni and cheese.  Okay, so I might have taken liberties.  It has ham instead of schnitzel, but there is definitely a noodle or two.  And lots and lots of cheese.  Four different cheeses, to be exact – cheddar (of course), monterey jack, colby, and some feta flavored with basil and tomato.  I was in the mood for some comfort food last night –  something that warms the soul in this frightful weather.

Mac and cheese…Hmm, hmm, good.

When the dog bites, when the bee stings, when I’m feeling sad. I simply remember my favorite things and …. Then I don’t feel sooooo bad.
