Beautiful Flower

Beautiful Flower

This is a song for every girl who’s
Ever been through something she thought she couldn’t make it through
I sing these words because
I was that girl too
Wanting something better than this
But who do I turn to

Now we’re moving from the darkness into the light
This is the defining moment of our lives

‘Cause you’re beautiful like a flower
More valuable than a diamond
You are powerful like a fire
You can heal the world with your mind

There is nothing in the world that you cannot do
When you believe in you, who are beautiful
Yeah, you, who are brilliant
Yeah, you, who are powerful
Yeah, you, who are resilient

This is a song for every girl who
Feels like she is not special
‘Cause she don’t look like a supermodel Coke bottle
The next time the radio tells you to shake your moneymaker
Shake your head and tell them, tell them you’re a leader

Now we’re moving from the darkness into the light
This is the defining moment of our lives

‘Cause you’re beautiful like a flower
More valuable than a diamond
You are powerful like a fire
You can heal the world with your mind

There is nothing in the world that you cannot do
When you believe in you, who are beautiful
Yeah, you, who are brilliant
Yeah, you, who are powerful
Yeah, you, who are resilient

Yeah, you, who are beautiful
Yeah, you, who are brilliant
Yeah, you, who are powerful
Yeah, you, who are resilient

Yeah, you, this song is for you
Yeah, you, this song is for you
Yeah, you, this song is for you
Yeah, you, yeah, you
You are brilliant

Winter rose

winter-rose

A winter rose is very rare
Whose delicate petals weep
As the bitter north winds blows
Them fiercely off to sleep
They awaken from their slumber
Beneath a warming sun

And rise to stretch in glory
As a new day has begun
The winter rose has flourished
Through the passing time
A symbol of life’s passion
And love that is sublime

A new beginning, never to end
A life’s passion, deeper than the sea
Embracing this thirsty soul
Never to be separated again
By the north wind blows..this winter rose

Forgive the soft focus of this image.  I almost didn’t post it, but I liked it enough that I overlooked the focus issues.  I took my camera, with Lensbaby attached, across the street to my neighbor’s driveway and took this image of their rose bush.  I think it is a rose of sharon bush – not your typical rose bush anyway.  These are the little seed pod things that are left behind after the rose is spent.  I was quickly losing light, standing there in my slippers with no coat on and I couldn’t find the sweet spot of the lens.  Still learning!!

Percy the puny poinsettia…

poinsettia

Is hanging his bloom in dismay
If they had just kept him wetta
He’d be a houseplant today
Folks liked the other plants betta
Now he’s alone on the shelf
Even a plant with no uncle or aunt
Shouldn’t spend Christmas Day by himself

Now who would have thought that there’d be a song about a poinsettia?  Click here for the full lyrics.

I got myself a present – a Lensbaby lens for my camera.  I sold a few pieces of my glass and decided to treat myself.  It came in yesterday morning and I did not allow myself to open the box up until I did a few chores around the house.  I finally opened it up around noon and started playing around.  Boy, do I have a lot to learn!!  I took around 200 images (good thing for digital) and have about a dozen that are passable.  Maybe.  The thing with the Lensbaby is that it is all manual, so I am REALLY going to have to learn how the camera works – mainly ISO settings and aperture size so you don’t get blown out images.  Thankfully some post-processing adjustments in Photoshop can be made, but it can’t correct everything.  I’m going to have a lot of fun over the next two weeks!!

Do you see what I see?

apricot-blush2

I’m just cleaning out some of the older photos that have been waiting to be used.  I posted some of these flowers earlier, I think in September.  This is an apricot blush mum.  They look like daisies, which is why I like them.  There is something hiding in the image that I didn’t see right away.  Do you see what I see?

Mums in black and white

apricot-blush-bw

I had a migraine all day yesterday so I didn’t get any new photos taken like I had planned.  Spent most of the day on the couch, wishing Buster would leave me alone so I could take a nap.  I finally managed a short one.  Anyway, since I didn’t have any new images I took an old one and desaturated it.  The mums had a yellow center, but when I desaturated it looked plastic-y, so I darkened the center for a bit of a different look.  Yeah, I’m cheating.  All this for November in black and white – click here for more info.
